Each day you and I make an impact on someone. We make a difference to somebody. Naturally we associate that with being a good thing, but what if it isn’t always? Its true we make an impact on people—probably more so than we ever dream—but is it a good impact, or a bad one? Blowing someone off or making a sarcastic remark makes as much of an impact as lavishing quality time or pouring words of encouragement on someone.
What does that mean?
It means we have a choice to make today!
Knowing that my speech and actions are going to impact someone, I want to make a positive difference for them. What that looks like might vary from person to person. Maybe its letting someone enter the store before me while I hold the door. Maybe its giving myself plenty of time to arrive at my next appointment so I’m not frantic on the freeway and irritated at anyone and everything that is in front of me. Maybe its taking the time to make eye contact with someone and smile. Maybe its letting someone I love know that I love them. Maybe I slip a written note onto a coworker’s desk letting them know I am blessed by them.
The possibilities just keep coming to mind! And these seemingly small things make a difference in someone’s life.
So my friends, how will you make a difference today?
