Wedding Guest Album: Complete!
(I know it's really hard to believe that a person could take photos this awful. It's just so unfortunate you can't look away, huh?!)
This is the completed album for a lovely bride in Sunny SoCal! In my previous post I focused on the kidskin that was chosen for the binding, which is a brand new experience in my atelier. There was a point where I was worried I'd cemented my fingers between the leather and the book, buuuuuut I didn't. Phew.
For this project I knew I'd be working so large that printing the pages wouldn't be an option, unless spending $285 in printing alone was desirable... Really?! That's nonsense, I say. I opted to place text on the thick creamy pages by using an acetone transfer technique. The end result is something that is very soft, almost like a watercolor. The book looks aged and romantic, which will be a great backdrop for all the writings from guests! The extra-special part of this format is that the guests will be able to place photo-booth images next to what they write. This is in keeping with my desire that my work is secondary to what the owner will put on the page.
Creating this album gave me the opportunity to work on something I've never tried before, and holding the finished product in my hands was hugely rewarding. And to the dear wedding couple, I wish you a lifetime of love and joy!
