Hitting a New Note
Earlier this week I was contacted by a college student with a request: could I design a notebook to use in her music theory class? It would need music staff lines, as well as space to take notes (bwaaaahahaha! Too funny, right?!). So after a morning of tinkering and designing, this is what is now heading to a college campus!
Except when I say "now", I mean tomorrow.
Postal business hours, ya know?

Double Take
As I promised yesterday, I'm showing you the second journal I created using those oh-so-captivating stripes! I love it! Most of the time I don't have duplicate papers, so I rarely get to experiment with multiple looks using the same elements. This was a fun opportunity for me to play--I've been relishing it! This journal is so clearly related to yesterday's, yet changing the direction of the paper offers a fresh take.
Fall seems to arriving in fits and bursts here, bringing with it changing weather. One day its hot, the next rainy, the next its in the 70s. It's keeping me on my toes! Sunday it was raining here, so I was glad yesterday was clear with not too much humidity. Since I cover my journals with a clear glaze coat, I need some minutes outdoors to do that--and rain puts a major "damper" on that process (oh chuckle chuckle chuckle!). Not only does the glaze add smoothness to the feel of the book, but it adds strength, durability, and even a smidge of water resistance to the covers. I don't want your journals to simply be something pretty to look at, I want it to be used! Taking these extra steps on my end means on your end, you get something that will keep pace with not only your mind and heart, but also something that keeps up with your day to day lifestyle. Enjoy!

Lines of Fall
Does this paper have a suggestion of something you've seen before? Mmmm? If it does, its because these stripes belong to the same Indian Fall series of papers I gushed over in the last blog. The things that set these stripes apart from many out there (because lets face it, we're bound to find some sort of stripe for anything and everything!):
1. The color gradations and variations within a stripe line add depth and richness.
2. The patterning of dots, lines and dashes make each stripe as charming as a satin ribbon.
3. Imprints of graceful stems and flowers further draw the eye into the paper, creating visual interest and creating subtle points of focus.
And can I just mention the beautiful color combination of this paper? Because its glorious. Glorious. (Oh--I said that already!)
Now I know this journal is producing warm fuzzies in your hearts, but I want to tease you just a little with the promise of yet another striped journal! Come back tomorrow to see the newest journal!

Fall Series Just Keeps Getting More Amazing!
I don't know if I have the words to tell you just how much I adore this journal. It's glorious. I love it. It makes my heart sing! It makes my feet do a happy dance! (You may be starting to get the picture by now...).
This paper is from BasicGrey's Indian Summer collection. The thing is, this collection came out years ago. When I saw it way back when, I loved it, promptly bought a fistfull of papers, and made a delicious set of cards from them. And then the papers disappeared from stores. It was a sad moment for me. I tried to move on, and I think I was successful at that after some therapy. But as I was rummaging through the discount stock at my local store I came across a few sheets from this collection. OH MY GOODNESS was I ever excited! And to show just how giddy I became, I decided to put glitter on the cover of this journal. (Despite my disdain for glitter I think works well on the delicate buds of this autumn branch. This time.)
Are you amazed? Giddy? Lusting? Awestruck? If you are, its completely understandable!
(Note my apathy and humility. Sorry 'bout that.)

Fall Series: Mr. Adams' Geometry Class
Since I'm in an idling car, this will be a quick post! (Moral of the story--always be ready with your laptop!).
This is one of my "fall" journals, even though it seems to be lacking the traditional fall colors. The reason I went with this cover for the series is because of how strongly the design makes me remember the start of high school geometry. I sat in Mr Adams' math classes and wrestled with proofs and theorems. In the late summer heat (especially intense in our second floor classroom on the west side and a wall of windows) we would wait in anticipation for cooler temperatures to ease our discomfort. Oh high school...!

Zippity Do Dah!
What can I say? The cool fall mornings put me in a giddy sing-song sort of mindset, so look out world (especially other drivers on the road)! Don't you want to jump on the back of one of these elephants and go on an adventure? We should go...just a quick field trip!
You may have noticed that this cover incorporates some of the same paper that another Fall journal shares. I tend to pick out papers based purely on what brings me delight in that moment. I also try to pick up a "family" of papers. Ones that compliment each other and can be layered and paired up in a visually pleasing manner. Sometimes that means using papers by the same designer, as was the case with this journal, but sometimes its a mix & match process. There are times when there is enough paper in a "family" to get more than one journal from them--and that makes my heart happy. Though you're not able to see the inside, I also cover the inside covers with a coordinating paper, so all of this has to be taken into consideration when I purchase, and design! I'm terribly excited to find that with all the scraps I have remaining from this paper, I have enough for a third(!) journal. Now if that isn't a reason to sing Zippity-Do-Dah, I just don't know what is!

Fall Dragonflies
I have to say that this journal is one of my personal favorites of the season! The rich red, glowing gold, and zippy turquoise make my heart go pitterpat. And the dragonflies...mmmmm... I know dragonflies were "hot" a few years ago, but I still enjoy them. They seem whimsical to me as they dart and hover--especially when they dance over flowers.
If you've been admiring the journals I post here, this week they'll appear in my etsy shop for purchase. I can't wait to see them up and available. Please visit my shop and browse around--I'd love to see you there!

Early Fall Means Back To School
There's just something about this journal that reminds me of starting school again. The end of summer and the start of fall... Crisp mornings and clear blue skies... I think it's the vibrant colors and the geometric prints. But this is way more fun than a simple composition book! If you've never had the chance to open an atelier JOIE journal, let me give you a little description...
There are a multitude of quotes taken from various authors and from the Bible. Some of these quotes are arranged artistically and with varied fonts that add more visual depth to the journalling experience. While some pages are blank, others are lined, and my personal favorite are pages with grids so you'll find pages like that as well. In my new line of Little Girl journals you'll even spy a few posies and birdies!
If you want to experience an atelier JOIE journal first hand, contact me at atelierjoie@me.com. I'd love to hear from you!

Fall In Copper and Rose
This journal has subtle warmth in its pale copper, and makes me think of sipping raspberry lemonade on the front porch. This particular journal is made with heavier weight paper, so its covers are more rigid. If you look close, you can see the texture of the paper, which makes it pleasing to the touch.
I wish you much joy today as you live your life in the here and now! ~Timmery

Gearing Up For Fall!
Good morning good morning! Today I woke up (groggily!) but with a great deal of joy. Now I'm sipping my cappuccino and shaking of the grog, and admiring the glorious day that is blossoming.
In my neck of the woods its still ridiculously hot, but I'm already anticipating Fall. This will be the first time in 9 years I've lived in an area that has "seasons", and I have to say I've excited to see the trees change colors. The scent of wood smoke, the crisp chill of the early morning, the wind that stirs turning leaves...so many ways autumn sinks into our being.
For all of these reasons I've decided to put together a series of journals that are inspired by fall. These haven't yet been entered into my etsy shop, but I'm letting my blog readers have a sneak peak of what's to come! I love the warm, rich tones of this cover, as well as the layering that goes on. Mmmmm, you can almost smell the caramel cider, can't you?
