Drops of Joy

Today was just one of those average days.  You know the ones: maybe nothing remarkable happened but there were highs and there were lows.   Laughter was shared with friends, and tears were wept in solitude.  The mailbox held nothing special.  Dinner was satisfying, but I ran out of milk.  The blanket feels extra fuzzy and delightful (especially to cold feet!).  And with all that fuzziness, there's an overflow onto my floor (translation: tomorrow I need to vacuum).  Today was, in a nutshell, a day of life.
In the big picture, perhaps there was nothing of long-lasting significance.  Yet it was a full day.  One that let me be fully human as I experienced texture and color, emotion and conversation.  It was a day to recognize and appreciate God's goodness that is lavished upon me despite what my circumstances are or what the future holds.  Today I soaked in the sunshine and delighted in the warmth it brought.  Today I sipped my coffee and enjoyed the view.  Even as I hustled from one city to the next today, I was able to take pleasure in the company I was with.
Today was nothing special nor wonderful.  I can also say it was not dull or dreadful.  But my day was full of warm joy throughout it all.
